Most Recent Tape Test Assignments

2009 – 2010 School Year

The tape tests are intended to identify critical passages in the music your orchestra is working on, encourage you to practice those passages (as well as the rest of your music!), and allow your teacher to mark your progress.

Instructions

  • Preferably, e-mail your submission directly to Doug Longman. Alternatively, you can use a cassette tape or a compact disc (CD) and submit it in person. If you use a cassette tape, be sure to rewind it and then position it just after the clear leader. If you use a CD, be sure it's finalized when you've finished recording.
  • If you submit a cassette tape or CD, label the medium with your name, school, orchestra, and instrument. If you e-mail your submission, your From address is sufficient identification.
  • Do not identify yourself, make any announcement, or introduce your selections on the medium.
  • Set your metronome close enough to the microphone that it can be clearly heard. Record your selections with the metronome running at the indicated tempo.
  • Your score is automatically lowered 5 points for every day by which your submission is late.
